Pet Care at Door

Privacy Policy

Last updated 12 October 2026

1. Who we are

Pet Care at Door ("we", "us", "our") is the data controller for personal data collected through petcareatdoor.co.uk. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the rights you have over it under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

2. What we collect

Depending on how you use the site, we collect:

  • Account details: name, email address, password (stored encrypted, never in plain text).
  • For pet owners: home address (for booking home visits), and details about your pets (name, species, and anything you add to their profile).
  • For professionals: job title, RCVS registration number, service area, pricing, qualifications, and verification documents (proof of ID and insurance).
  • Booking history, messages sent through the platform, and reviews.
  • Payment information — processed directly by Stripe, our payment provider. We never see or store your full card details.
  • Basic technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) collected automatically, and, only where you've consented, analytics and advertising cookies — see our Cookie Policy.

3. Why we use it

We process personal data on these legal bases:

  • Contract — to create your account, run bookings, process payments, and let owners and professionals communicate.
  • Legitimate interest — to keep the platform secure, prevent fraud, verify professionals' credentials, and improve the service.
  • Legal obligation — to keep records required for tax, accounting, or regulatory purposes.
  • Consent — for analytics and advertising cookies, and for any marketing emails you opt into.

4. Who we share it with

We share data only where needed to run the service:

  • Supabase — hosts our database and authentication.
  • Stripe — processes payments and subscriptions.
  • Vercel — hosts the website.
  • Google Analytics, Google Ads, and/or Meta Pixel — only if enabled and only after you consent to non-essential cookies; used to understand site usage and measure advertising.
  • The professional or owner on the other side of a booking — limited to what's needed to carry out that appointment (e.g. name, address, pet details, contact details).

We do not sell personal data to third parties.

5. International transfers

Some of the providers above may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we rely on their standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard recognised under UK GDPR.

6. How long we keep it

We keep account and booking data for as long as your account is active, plus a period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and dispute-resolution needs. You can ask us to delete your account at any time, subject to records we're required to keep by law.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you.
  • Have inaccurate data corrected.
  • Ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten"), subject to legal retention requirements.
  • Restrict or object to certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time where we rely on consent (e.g. non-essential cookies).
  • Complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you think we've mishandled your data.

To exercise any of these, email privacy@petcareatdoor.co.uk.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page.

We use essential cookies to run this site, and — only with your OK — analytics and advertising cookies to understand traffic and measure our ads. See our Cookie Policy.
